Pay Changes Starting June 4th, 2022

As a reminder, June 4, 2022, was the date the Postal Service began paying the new pay rates under the 2021-2024 National Agreement—the pay charts are attached and have been on our website for some time. Our Union Family members in the IT/AS Division of the APWU have been programming all the changes and are still hard at work programming the additional changes required by this historic CBA. I again want to thank them for their hard work and appreciate their efforts. The pay changes programmed by the Postal Service include the following:
Employees will receive the new rates for the hours worked during pay period 13 (started June 4, 2022) in their paycheck dated June 24, 2022. This is not the retroactive pay! Retroactive payments will not be in the paycheck dated June 24, 2022. The retroactive pay date has not been determined as of yet. As soon as the APWU is informed that the programming is complete and the date determined we will provide that information to the field. As a reminder—any employee that was on the rolls at the time of the new rate “effective date” will receive a retroactive payment. This includes employees who have separated from the Postal Service for any reason. The question is often asked about employees who retire before the retroactive payments are made. Retirees will receive the retroactive payment for all time they were on the rolls during the retroactive payment period. These payments are normally sent as a paper check to their last installation of record where they will need to arrange to have their check mailed to them or to be picked up. Retirees will then have their annuity calculation adjusted based on the new rates and the retroactive payments. However, this is a manual process that is not immediate and is not quick. The Postal Service must send the updated pay information to OPM and then OPM must manually make the adjustment.
